Here is a picture of my jobs chart next to my behavior chart.
On my jobs chart I put a brief description of what they have to do so they can read it and remember. I put in red at the bottom if it is a one person job or a two person job. I use cloth pins with their names on it. If I have to do their job for them because the forgot I put a -1 for each time I have to do their job.
I have done jobs in many ways; posters, pockets, etc. I like this way the best so far. It takes up less room and tell them how to do their job in case they forget.
Welcome to my Moore Books Please Blog! Here I will share book ideas, resources and fundraisers! Thank you for taking a look at my small business.

Oh the Beginning
Every year I forget how hard the beginning of the year is. I can't wait until things settle down and I can post some more on here. I hope all your years are off to a great start. Mine is a bit rocky so far but hopefully it will smooth out.
I moved classrooms and man was that a task! I will have to added some pictures soon.
Until then here are my station numbers that I hung from my ceiling, well some of them :)

Fraction Flags
Man did my kiddos struggle to make these fraction flags. They did not come out perfectly that is for sure. The idea was good but the execution not so much. That might have to do with their cutting skills as well. The had to pick a denominator and make a flag with that many pieces. They had the country of fourths, the country of eighths, etc

Planet Pocket Books
11x14 papers connected with tape and folded so they made pockets. Very easy to do. Index cards in the pockets.
One pocket for each planet. I had them decorate the front of the card to represent their planet.
They had to find 5 facts about the planet and write them in a paragraph on the back.

Classroom Pictures & Favorite Objects
Well I have 4 more days left of school! I am joining in on a linky party on Teacher Idea Factory.
Things that I could not live without in my classroom...
1. My Elmo. I love being able to just put my paper or worksheet under it and have it up on the board. I hated transparencies.
2. My library. I have been collecting books forever. I used to get a lot of them at thrift stores but now I mainly get them through Scholastic Book orders. Bonus Points are the best.
3. Skinny markers. Mr. Sketch are my favorite. They work well and smell oh so good.
I am moving rooms this year! It is a daunting task since I have been in my room for six years and have accumulated A LOT of stuff. My new room is a lot bigger but the storage is severely lacking.
Here is my current room when it was set up for open house so it looks even more cluttered then usual.
Here are a couple pictures of the back of my room.
One side of my room where my library for AR books is located.
My desk up in the front corner
Other side of the room I have my audio books, Non fiction books and magazines.
My teacher area. SO cluttered especially since it is the end of the year.
middle area. I cant wait to switch rooms and set up a new room. Six years later I am a little bored and cluttered in this room.

Van Gogh Starry Nights
Thanks to the wonderful Pinterest I found this site on Van Gogh paintings and printed it out to add to my students portraits posted earlier.
Here is my Van Gogh wall. I had them write about him (all the way on the left), self portraits in the middle and the Starry night on the right.
You can find the Starry Night print out here.

Van Gogh Self Portraits
I love to teach my third graders about art. They are so intrigued by all the paintings around my room. I also do Van Gogh before open house so they can make self portraits. They come out so fun. I add a real picture of them on the painting in the corner.
I always read them a book on Van Gogh that we have in our library. This year I also had my students write what they have learned about Van Gogh to display next to the portraits.

Desert Habitats
During our habitats unit I had my students make their own deserts.
You can see the science book next to them with the instructions.
I bought little catcus' at the dollar store. I got lucky and happened to find them there.
They collected rocks and I bought in the sand. 50 lb bag at Orchard for $5.
Shoe boxes and plastic wrap for the liner. I chose blue to represent the water below the soil.
After they were done we displayed them for about a month then good behavior kids got to take them home. The kids had a blast.

Geometric Monsters
My students made this geometric monsters during our geometry unit in math. I gave them some shapes and they made some of them on their own. They had to be able to identify every shaped they used. I quizzed them on several of the shapes on their monsters. During writing they had to write a story about their monster including its name, habitat, what it eat, etc. They had a great time making these.

Digital Cameras in the class
I have a couple of cheap digital camera that I have my students use when time permits. I had my students take a picture of something in the classroom and write about why they picked that object. Simple writing project but the kids loved it.
Welcome
Well I have been finding all these wonderful ideas on fellow teachers blogs and thought I would post some of the ideas and things I do in my class. I have no idea if anyone will see this blog or read anything on it but I will post as often as I can.
