Now on to some wonderful recommendations…

For beginner readers this set is wonderful. My daughter started with these books and enjoyed them. It gives them lots of little books like our blue books but more interesting.

Another great set are these phonics books. There are also on individual phonics books.

A must have is the lift the flap books. I brought a few of these in the classroom and the kids loved them! I was worried about them ripping them but they were so good with them. Also if they do rip there is a 50% replacement policy that allows you to get the damaged book for 50% off the normal cost!

They come in different levels and all are fabulous.

For fun and fine motor skills I highly recommend the magic painting books! They make great gifts and are so easy to use. Just add a little water and the color paints right from the page. Both my kids love these.

The First Magic Painting books are the easier version then the regular Magic Painting. There are lots of themes so something for everyone.

Wipe clean books are amazing for multiple kids to use! They wipe off and can be used over and over again. They are available in many subjects!

Stickers books are also amazing and we always have them with us. Pick the title that start with First for our kindergarten kiddos. They are easier for them.

The learning palette is another amazing learning tool.

Adopt a Grandparent

Have you thought about how Covid has affected the elderly? Do you have a loved one in a nursing home or assisted living facility?

This is something that has weighed on me. My aunt is living in a nursing home and her family wasn't able to see her for so long. Her sister (my MIL) could go see her. It was very stressful.

A couple years ago before Covid start I was able to attend an event at an assisted living facility and hand out Christmas cards with my daughter. It was stressful and exciting at the same time. I felt so bad for some of the residents that didn't have family to visit them. I thought I would love to do this every year and then Covid hit and that was no longer a possibility. So I thought and came up with another idea. I want to make a big gift basket with things for the residents to do. Intellectual activities will help keep their minds sharp and help prevent dementia. I also hope they just feel the love of people caring about them when they see some donated gifts to them!

I can't do this alone I need your help!

So if you would like to help there are a few ways that you could do so.

Any of these three options will get active books in the residents hands!

Summer Reading Program

I am running a summer reading program in my Moore Books Please group! I would love to include any kids that could use some motivation to keep reading this summer! There will be prizes and FREE books!
Check it out in the events in my group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MooreBooksPlease/
#beatthesummerslide

Details:
Participation in this program involves:
▪ Reading (or being read to) a minimum of 400 minutes over a four week period. That's only just under 15 minutes per day!
▪ Collecting pledges from friends, neighbors, and relatives who will support your child/children’s reading. This could be any amount that the donor wishes. An example would be the donor offers $.50 per minute read or even a flat $20 for reading a set amount of minutes.
▪ Turning in pledges at the end of the program -- no later than July 3rd! (via Paypal or Venmo)
▪ Selecting reward books totaling 100% of collected pledges. Your child will have the option to keep 100% in books for himself/herself, or keep a portion and donate the rest to an organization of their choice!

PLUS:
Every child who participates in the program will receive a special gift from me!

AND

There will be prizes awarded to three participants as well.

There will also be a few random bonus challenges thrown in that could earn you free books!

As a teacher summer is always a concern of mine. So many kids do not read and set themselves back to start there not grade. I have always wanted a way to motivate kids to read.
